Vikki's Glow Guide - Why I love Skin Boosters
Welcome to my first Glow Guide! A place to discuss all things aesthetics, skincare, and spray tanning!
I thought I'd begin with one of the questions I'm asked most by my lovely clients....
"What's your favourite treatment?"
I honestly love all the treatments I offer for different reasons, but if I had to choose one of my favourites, it would have to be...
SKIN BOOSTERS!
Why are skin boosters one of my favourite treatments?
As you can see from the above photos, my menopausal skin was looking and feeling dull and dehydrated. Fine lines and wrinkles were really starting to show. But since I started having regular skin boosters there's been a noticeable improvement in my skin quality. My skin both looks and feels soft and hydrated.
This is why I rave to my clients about skin boosters so much and many are already seeing the benefits!
So, what exactly are skin boosters?
To explain what skin boosters are, it helps to understand a little about the structure of our skin.
Our skin is made up of three main layers.
The epidermis is the outer layer and acts as a protective barrier against pollutants, bacteria and UV damage.
Beneath this lies the dermis, which is where much of the magic happens! It contains collagen and elastin, which give our skin strength, elasticity and bounce. The dermis also contains hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance that attracts and holds water, helping to keep our skin hydrated.
Finally, there's the subcutaneous layer, which contains fat and connective tissue. This provides support, cushioning and insulation for the skin above.
As we get older, the amount of hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin within our skin gradually reduces. Sun exposure, environmental factors and everyday stresses can all contribute to these changes.
This is where skin boosters come in.
Unlike dermal fillers, which are designed to restore volume or enhance facial features, skin boosters work by deeply hydrating the dermis and improving overall skin quality.
I often describe them as giving your skin the ultimate hydrating facial—but from within.
How are skin boosters delivered?
There are several ways to deliver skin boosters into the skin.
They can be injected using tiny micro-injections (mesotherapy), delivered through microneedling, or injected using the BAP technique, which is my preferred method for many treatments.
Over the following weeks, your skin gradually becomes softer, more hydrated and more radiant.
Why I don't just stock one skin booster
One thing that's really important to me is offering choice.
Every client's skin is different, so I don't believe one skin booster is right for everyone.
That's why I carefully choose different products depending on your skin concerns and your skin goals.
For example...
I love using Kiara Reju for younger skin (generally under 35). It combines hyaluronic acid with PDRN to hydrate, and repair sun damaged or acne scarred skin, making it a lovely choice for maintaining healthy skin and helping to prevent premature fine lines.
EJAL40 is another favourite of mine for those aged 35+ and is great for crepey, lax skin (especially after weight loss) as it helps to stimulate collagen and elastin production while improving hydration and skin structure.
I also love SOSUM SOFT as it is ideal for all ages and works particularly on delicate areas such as the neck, décolleté and hands where skin can become thinner over time (all my skin boosters can treat these areas)
And my absolute favourite for someone in their middling years (like me!) is REVS PRO 32.
Revs Pro 32's combination of high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid delivers intense hydration, making it particularly lovely for menopausal and more mature skin. I've found it especially helpful for improving hydration around the cheeks and softening those fine lines that naturally appear over time.
Why I love skin boosters
The reason I love skin boosters so much is that they fit perfectly with my philosophy.
They don't dramatically change the way someone looks.
Instead, they improve skin quality so people simply look fresher, healthier and more radiant.
Your skin feels softer, more hydrated and develops that lovely glow where the light almost seems to bounce off it.
What I also love is that the results are cumulative.
I have a skin booster treatment every four to six months and have genuinely noticed my own skin becoming progressively more hydrated, radiant and luminous over time.
